Kuroko No Basket First Impressions

Update: Kuroko No Basket Aniplogs Hub has been Created.

The thoughts of having an anime that will dethrone "Slam Dunk" away from the best basketball anime was one of the reasons that I didn't follow Kuroko no Basket. But after hearing out good positive feedbacks of the show made me decide to give it a try and what follows next is instant liking that I never expected to bloom.

Contrary to the most common scenario in Sports anime where the protagonist is a complete beginner, Kuroko No Basket started with characters who knows the basics of the sport. And Instead of starting up with dramatic conversations and slow introduction, the series is off to a fast start and rapid pacing.

Two characters have caught my attention (everyone's attention), Taiga and Kuroko both of which having the unusual aura and personality that separates them from the Pack. Taiga, red haired with tall athletic build reminds me of Hanamichi Sakuragi while Kuroko, a complete opposite of Taiga, embodies a mysterious well being gifted with exceptional passing skills and unprecedented play making in the court.

As far as the casts are concerned I see no specialty from other members of the team but that's still too early to tell since by the time of this writing the series only spans 3 episodes. When it comes to competing schools, the obvious threat are the schools where the members of Generation of Miracles have gone too. The Generation of Miracles are Five super players playing in Teiko Middle School each with their own special talent, finishing graduation, they went to different schools and that is when the story of the anime took place. A fact few known is there's a Phantom sixth member of Generation of Miracles and that will be Kuroko of Seirin High.

Overall, Kuroko No Basket is now on top of my list for this spring anime in Japan. Instead of being another Slam Dunk wannabe it paved it's away differently from the usual direction of how sports anime starts. There's no time wasted on each passing minute of the episodes, everything is just well done and greatly played on the show. Let's just hope that the intensity of the show will not degrade and will be on it's best grade all through out this season.
