Summer Wars Review

I think this is just the perfect time to write a review about Summer Wars, the upcoming film by Mamorou Hosoda "Wolf Children: Ame & Yuki" is already set for theatrical release and it's very timely these days because the use of Social Networking is widely used worldwide where the plot mostly revolves.

Those who are familiar with Mamorou Hosoda's work (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) will recognize the artwork used in the anime movie. From characters to the lovely school environment and the cozy feeling of being part of the Family, everything just reminds me of the great effort that Mamorou Hosoda worked on. The only difference of the two is that this time, it is more refined, more fluent and much lovely.

I think what you'll notice on the anime is that it's very colorful, especially on the part where the Social Networking System called "Oz" is presented. The Oz Network is heavily used in the movie in a way that the traffic system, Civil Records to Buying Food Supplies depends on the Oz Infrastructure.

Now Enter, Koiso Kenjie, a young mathematical genius who goes to a vacation trip when her secret crush invited him to the countryside with her family and the next thing that happened is a total mess when a computer virus breaks out in the Oz Network. Kenjie and his new found family is now on the work on stopping the chaos, easier as it sounds when you have a genius on your side but the virus is more than capable in dominating the network.

You'll see a bunch of supporting characters on the anime but despite it's numbers you'll see great diversity on their personalities. And it's a fun combination! There's not much character development involve aside from Kenjie and a few of the members of the family but seeing how they react to solve the problem is a fun watch. I view Summer Wars as a Family Entertainment and since there's already a dubbed version out there I highly recommend it for Saturday Night movie moment for bonding with your Family.

Summer Wars is the right choice if you're looking for a movie to spend this summer. It may look nerdish but once you look deeply it's more on the value of Family. My first impressions on Summer Wars is that it will be another mind twisting anime ala Ghost in The Shell but it never came to me that Mamorou Hosoda is guiding everything from here and what happened is a perfect Family movie. Another A+ Movie IMHO you'll never get wrong watching it (^^,).
