Soul Eater Review

Soul Eater Review
I just finished sorting up my anime review page last night and noticed that I've only written a few series to add on my blog. So I decided to write a new one and on this case I chose Soul Eater as I've finished the series and watched it several times now.

I usually start my review with the Story of the Anime but this time I would like to start on the animation and artwork of the show. For so many shonen title these days Soul Eater is the type of anime which appears odd, in a sense that it doesn't look ugly or stupid, but because it's different from the others. If you're used to watch low quality videos from illegal streaming sites then you're watching Soul Eater partially and not enjoying it fully. I suggest you buy a Blu Ray copy or DVD and you won't regret it!

Emphasizing the darkly themed backgrounds then shifting to the lively and beautiful Shibusen Academy is something you won't find on popular titles these days - and they executed it perfectly on the show. The details of the environment and a representation of a different world gives you the exploratory vibe that makes the series very enjoyable to watc. You'll get introduced to different environments, The City, Desert, Arctic Adventures, Jungle Raids, Cathedrals, Villages - name it and Soul Eater has it.

Fight scenes and character movements are non-repetitive unlike other shonen animes and make's use of varied angles that made it very especial. Love it or Hate it but if you're going to ask me, non-standard style of fight-scene animation appeals to me most!

Just when you watch the first episode, Soul Eater will give you an idea of their main goal. To collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul in order to become a death Scythe. But there's actually more to it, In fact it doesn't revolve on that goal and the story develops to a mature and complex  story line. The episodes are fast paced and action packed which will keep you at the edge of your seats. The suspense and the delivery of the story is so good that even though the story is not that creative, it creates an illusion that it's one of the best out there. The only thing that I hate about the whole series is the fillers, I'm not really sure if the excalibur scenes are significant to the story but it's just plain crap.

Death The Kid is my favorite among the main characters! His Mr. Perfect personality as well as his hardcore obsession on symmetry provides a comic relief on times when the series goes blunt. Character Development is not a big issue, you'll definitely see some drama as you go along digging up their past and weaknesses. But what's really staggering among the batch of characters are the villains, All of them are creepy, unpredictable and BADASS! Without them I think the series would fail miserably and I'll just think that it's ordinarily plain.

As a whole Soul Eater provides a complete package as a Shonen anime and with difficult flaws to spot on I'll rate a perfect score for the show. If only they didn't mess up with the unexpected ending it might have beaten Naruto and garnered a huge fan base by now. A+ for me! A Must Watch!
