10 threatening emails with phrases like "Die, you swindler", "I'll make you regret this", "I'll found out where you live" have alerted Tsukasa Fushimi, the author of the series. With 500 emails of Photoshopped image containing decapitated pictures of the author escalated the situation which led to the arrest of a 32-year-old unemployed man in Tokushima prefecture.
Though this seems to be an abnormal for a 32 year old man, there are several cases before where otakus display similar mannerisms. Now, that leads to stereotypes where otakus receive negative perception to the general public just what happened to the otakus in Japan.
