I'm not a Lupin III hardcore follower but I definitely knew how hot it was when I was still a kid. It was one of the most talked series when I was in grade school. I was never a fan because the artwork and animation is not my type. Nevertheless it's popularity never fades, old school anime viewers are definitely the target and this new series is one solid proof that the franchise is still alive.
Sadly this will only comprise a 13 episode series that will air on April 4th, almost same date to Space Brothers. The new "Lupin III - The woman named Fujiko Mine" will be directed by Sayo Yamamoto and Redline's director Takeshi Koike will be the director of animation and is in charge of character design.
Most of the story revolves around Fujiko Mine and the rest of the crew (Lupin, Goimon, Jiggen ... et al) when they're still young. Expect more sexy scenes as the series goes as this was intended to depict the original Monkey Punch's cheeky apprehension of the Lupin III manga. Will update you guys more information if we heard some PVs released.
